Central & Eastern Europe

Central & Eastern Europe is the central region of Europe. Central & Eastern Europe includes contiguous territories that are sometimes also considered parts of Western Europe, Southern Europe and Eastern Europe. The concept of Central & Eastern Europe is based on a common historical, social and cultural identity and is a patchwork of territories that are traditionally Catholic and Protestant.

Central & Eastern Europe in brief

All 14 Central and Eastern European countries have much in common due to their location on crossroads between West and East and long years of common history in multinational states like Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy. After 2nd World War all those countries were part of the socialistic camp, more or less isolated from western world for more than 40 years. Since peaceful “velvet” revolutions at the end of 1980’s, all those countries started painful process of returning to European democratic traditions and values and 8 countries already became members of European Union and NATO.

Although there are many commonalities and similarities with regards to languages, religion and social structure, all 14 countries are independent states with own political and healthcare systems, therefore launching new innovative medicines there requires an individual approach and deep understanding of local healthcare systems and processes provided by local experts.
